The Fairfield School Board met with concerned McKinley Elementary School parents Thursdsay, months after the school was told it needs to become racially balanced.
More than 40 percent of the students at the school are minorities, which is twice the rate in any other elementary school in the district.
The school district is looking at a plan that starts by asking McKinley parents to voluntarily enroll their kids in other schools.
Many parents at the meeting said McKinley is fine the way it is.
Some are worried not enough parents will volunteer. The school board will then have to consider other options such as redistricting, magnet schooling and open enrollment.
The school board intends to vote on a plan on Tuesday. The plan will have several stages that will run over a five-year period.
