FEMA to tour areas hit hard by massive rainstorm
Assistance may soon arrive for southwestern Connecticut residents who were hit hard by last week?s massive rainstorm.
Governor Jodi Rell announced Tuesday that FEMA officials will tour hard-hit areas in Stamford, Darien, Greenwich and New Canaan during the week.
The heavy rain flooded many businesses and homes, displacing residents and damaging property. Stamford resident Christina Skuburdis runs a speech pathology office from her basement. She says the storm completely destroyed her business and almost took her life.
?I turned around and all I could see was this big river of water pulling me under water and I almost lost my life,? Skuburdis said.
FEMA representatives have to find more than $2.6 million worth of damage and they need to determine at least 100 people were displaced before they can make a disaster recommendation to the governor.
