A Long Island bride and groom who were supposed to get married this weekend in the Outer Banks of North Carolina are not going to let Florence get in their way of their vows.
Every detail had been thoughtfully planned out for Dane Suarez and Kerriann Otano's wedding date. They would be married in the family’s special retreat located on Topsail Island. But then an uninvited guest showed up in the form of a gigantic storm.
The family was evacuated and returned to their home in Wading River. During the drive back, Kerriann posted on Facebook the news to family and friends that the wedding in North Carolina had been canceled.
“We thought we will just come back to my parents’ house on Long Island and we will get married in my parents’ living room” says Otano.
But then click by click and post by post Facebook friends made magic happen. The bride-to-be says hundreds of people offered up their services to make their special day just that.
They decided to take Alure Restaurant in Southold up on their offer to host the wedding. So on Sunday, the couple, will be wed in proper style.
“Instead of just getting married in a courthouse, which I had resigned myself to, we are going to have this beautiful day in this beautiful location with people who are so dedicated to us,” says Otano.
“I am so grateful that we have been welcomed here with open arms,” says Suarez.
The North Fork Doughnut Company is donating what is called a “doughnut wall” for all the wedding guests.
