AAA says for the first time in a decade, holiday travel for the Fourth of July will fizzle like a wet firecracker.
Even though the numbers are low, some families are still traveling for the holiday. AAA says more than 40 million Americans will hit the highways and travel more than 50 miles over the long weekend.
However, travel experts say the rising price of gas is keeping millions of Americans closer to home this year. AAA says travel is expected to be 1.3 percent lower compared to last year.
Some travelers say while the gas prices are taking a toll on their pockets, they still choose to use their cars anyway.
