Milford teen thwarts attempted gas station robbery
The actions of a teen gas station attendant may have thwarted a robbery in Milford.
Police say the area has been plagued by a string of recent gas station robberies. According to police, another robbery would have been added to the list if not for the actions of an 18-year-old attendant. They say when someone tried to rob the Citgo station on Boston Post Road Sunday, the attendant fought back and prevented the robber from taking anything.
The station manager says the clerk was working by himself when a man walked in to buy cigarettes. The clerk says the man pulled out what appeared to be a gun and demanded cash. The clerk says he sensed it wasn?t a real gun and went after the robber.
Police say the individual got away, but didn?t get any cash. Authorities are recommending employees don?t try to fight back in a similar situation. They add that had the weapon been real, there could have been a tragic turn of events.
Anyone with information on the attempted robbery is urged to call the Milford Police Department at (203) 878-6551.
