Friends and loved ones are mourning the loss of two young people who were killed crossing the street in Stamford over the weekend.
Dozens of people came out despite the weather Tuesday to honor Yuliana Arias Lozano and Giovani Vega Benis with an emotional vigil.
"She didn't have anyone here, she was by herself, so we were the family for her," said friend Melanie Amador.
Benis was a father of twins and is said to have loved making friends.
"He was so, so funny, he was always making jokes with all the workers at the restaurant," said Brayan Lopez.
Mourners embraced the rain and exchanged hugs with one another, sending balloons skyward while they prayed for justice.
"She was a person that has a lot of dreams since she came to this country," one person said of Lozano.
A fundraiser is being planned for Sunday at The Palms and local restaurants are donating food.
