Norwalk police and the Anti-Defamation League are looking into incidents at two of the city's main high schools.
Police and Norwalk public schools say a swastika, about the size of a half-dollar, was drawn on the seat of a chair in a computer lab at the school recently. They say last week, in the same computer lab, someone rearranged the letters on a keyboard to spell a racial slur.
Steven Ginsburg, the director of the Connecticut Anti-Defamation League, says he is trying to understand why someone would do this.
"They get messages that aren't accurate and sometimes they're looking to get attention, sometimes they're looking to offend, sometimes they think it's funny,” he told News 12.
Police were also looking into a social media post made on an online page run by Norwalk High School that showed someone holding a gun.
Police say they identified the person who made the post, but police say the image came from outside the country. They determined it was not a credible threat.
Extra police patrolled Norwalk High School Thursday out of an abundance of caution.
Norwalk public schools' officials say they are happy with how quickly these incidents were brought to their attention to try and keep this community safe.
