Members of the Norwalk community met at the YMCA Wednesday night to tackle the growing gang violence problem.

Mayor Dick Moccia says he doesn?t have the answer to the recent rash of gang violence, but he?s worried it?s getting worse. He says gangs are now targeting middle school children for membership and those students often find the temptation of the gang too much to resist.

The result of the meeting was the creation of a group made up of city leaders, residents and concerned young people called Norwalk Neighbors Helping Our Teens. The group plans on reaching out to young people before it?s too late.

One goal that came out of the meeting is to have roundtable discussions monthly in the neighborhoods where the members believe the problems are.
