A plane carrying rapper Post Malone has landed safely after it blew two tires during takeoff at Teterboro Airport.
The Gulfstream IV plane was carrying 16 passengers when it left Teterboro around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday. The pilot soon realized what had happened and began circling the region to burn off fuel.
The plane was able to land safely at Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, New York, just before 4 p.m.
Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, performed at the Video Music Awards in New York Monday night.
The rapper tweeted Tuesday afternoon that he landed safely and thanked his followers for their prayers.
The jet had been headed to London Luton Airport in Luton, England. It had previously been set to try to land at the Westfield-Barnes airport in Massachusetts. It was diverted to Stewart because it has a longer runway, which is better for such emergencies.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
