Police probe death of 1-year-old boy in foster care
A Greenwich woman is grieving the death of her 1-year-old son after police say the child died in Bridgeport while in the care of foster parents.
Police were called to a home in the city's North End around 11 p.m. Friday, after the foster parents found the boy, Michael Citron, not breathing.
The child was rushed to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say the investigation is active and the boy's cause of death is not known at this time.
The child's biological family says video of Michael shows he was in good health just days ago. His mother, 25-year-old Lauren Citron, was inconsolable after learning of her son's death.
Citron's family says the mother suffered a traumatic brain injury after being struck by a drunken driver in 2006. They say it was due to her disability that the state Department of Children and Families, placed her baby in foster care.
The Citron family says they are expecting answers from the DCF.
The agency did not return News 12's calls for comment.
