Local officials met in Stamford today to point out the need to update and maintain the transportation system in southwestern Connecticut.
Mayor David Martin and Congressman Jim Himes spoke underneath a structurally deficient bridge that nearly 140,000 cars on I-95 use per day.
Himes says the bridge is one of the top-10 most traveled and deficient bridges in southwestern Connecticut.
Himes says being proactive will not only keep people safe, but also create jobs.
The congressman says a recent report found it is just one of 63 bridges in southwestern Connecticut that need to be fixed.
