Thursday marks the 28th anniversary since the collapse at the L'Ambiance Plaza construction site that killed 28 workers.
The spot is marked with a memorial to the workers who died that day.
The names of all 28 people who were killed, along with the 22 injured are inscribed at the base.
The 16-story tower was being built by lifting individual slabs of concrete, one for each floor. When one slab fell, it caused a chain reaction that led to the collapse.
The incident led to a nationwide investigation into that method of construction. Despite a moratorium in Connecticut, it is still allowed in many places.
