  • It's chilly, damp and breezy but the weekend looks slightly better.
  • Drier Saturday on the way.
FORECAST: Storm Team Meteorologist Michele Powers says tomorrow looks a little better. There will be some sun, but the clouds will take over again. There is a slight risk of an isolated shower or sprinkle.
The chance for rain increases Sunday, but it doesn't look like very much will fall. Think cloudy and cool, do dress warmly for Mother's Day on Sunday.
Temperatures warm up again early next week. Count on some 70s before some more rain falls Wednesday.
COASTAL FLOODING: The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for Southwestern Fairfield County from 11 p,m. to 3 a.m. for some brief, minor flooding during tonight's high tide cycle. Up to 1/2 foot of inundation possible. The new moon and also onshore winds are helping to sustain this threat.
GEOMAGNETIC STORM & AURORA: The Space Prediction Weather Center has issued a G4 Severe Geomagnetic Storm Watch for tonight.
Our sun is in a very active period right now and several solar flares erupted with CME's coming towards Earth. This will continue to interact with our magnetic field and can cause some satellite disruptions.
This is rare and if conditions are right, the northern lights may be visible from our latitude. The issue will be the sky clearing up in time. Of course, you would need to stay away from city lights. In our area if it is seen, it will be very low on the northern horizon for a time.
