School officials at Laurelton Hall in Milford closed the school after they say a student's parent, who is a health care worker, began to experience symptoms of the coronavirus.
In a letter to parents, Elizabeth Miller, the head of the school wrote that the parent of the student was exposed to COVID-19 and is now symptomatic.
Miller says the parent is a medical professional and began to experience symptoms this week after being exposed to the virus.
The parent reported symptoms, and is currently being monitored.
As a result, Miller says campus classes have been canceled, and the school will be closed from March 11-13, but that learning will continue online.
Miller says the student whose parent was exposed to the virus is not symptomatic, but because she was exposed to her parent, she is now in self-quarantine.
“Our student is not symptomatic, but because she was exposed, is now self-quarantined,” Miller says.
Miller says the campus is now closed and locked and that no students, parents, or employees will be allowed on campus. She says the school will advise students and parents before the weekend about school plans going forward.
