Social media puts face on those who are at ‘high risk’ of contracting coronavirus

On social media, people are putting a face to the vulnerable with the hashtag #highriskcovid19.

Health officials continue to urge social distancing to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The virus can be deadly for people who are "high risk".
On social media, people are putting a face to the vulnerable with the hashtag #highriskcovid19.
People are learning that age isn't the only factor and there are many other illnesses that can impact those who are at "high risk."

The social medial posts urge others to take the virus and the social distancing seriously.
One Twitter user shared "Posting on behalf of my 87 yr old grandparents…" and asked for others to wash their hands and use social distancing to keep her grandparents safe.
A young woman shared a video of her father who has asthma, which also makes him "high risk."
A father shared a photo with his 22-year-old daughter who is “high risk” because she is on her second kidney transplant.
A social media post with a girl named of Grace says that she is not having a party to celebrate her ninth birthday because she is immune-deficient.
Those were just some of the people that can be found on social media when searching with the hashtag #highriskcovid19.
Health experts say practicing social distancing will reduce opportunities for virus transmission to people at “high risk” and can ultimately prevent the pandemic's growth.
