House Speaker Nancy Pelosi joined Mayor Bill de Blasio, Rep. Nydia Velázquez and immigration advocates Wednesday to call for the passage of the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019.

The bill would provide those with temporary protected status and individuals with deferred enforced departure with protection from deportation and an opportunity to obtain permanent legal status.

The passage of the bill would protect millions of immigrants living in the United States.

It is expected to be on the House floor in May.
