Stamford mayor: Cove Island ready for holiday
Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy assured residents that Cove Island is ready for the long Memorial Day weekend after touring facilities at the beach Wednesday.
Malloy said except for a few minor maintenance issues, visitors can expect a good experience. Park Maintenance Supervisor Bob Longo said his crew has been getting the 85-acre park ready for about two weeks. According to Malloy, a lot of time and money was spent on the park in the off season.
?You can stand at just about any point at this park and see the water, which is what we?ve been striving for,? Malloy said.
According to Malloy, a new food and beverage vendor has been brought in on a short-term basis and will begin working this Saturday.
