The Route 1 Bridge at Exit 9 on I-95 will be replaced over the first two weekends in June, officials say.
Construction will begin Friday, May 31 at 11 p.m. and finish on Monday, June 10 at 5 a.m.
I-95 traffic in both directions will be reduced to two lanes.
State police Robert Derry tells News 12 drivers should avoid the area during construction.
"We're really warning people to, if they can, stay away from the area; that's highly recommended because otherwise if you come down this way you're going to be sitting in traffic longer than you probably want to be; we're also staffing extra troopers on the Merritt Parkway as we anticipate a lot [of] motorists will try [to] bypass this area by going on to the Merritt Parkway so we're going to have a lot of troopers in the area,” says Derry.
Route 1 will be detoured to Courtland and Hamilton avenues.
