Suit over Stamford Christmas Day fire seeks details on debris
Court records released to News 12 Connecticut today show that the owner of the Stamford home destroyed by a deadly fire on Christmas Day wants to know what happened to all of the debris.
The records show that someone hired AMEC Carting to remove the debris, and Madonna Badger, the mother of the three girls who died in the fire, wants to know who hired the Norwalk company and where the debris went.
City authorities say they had Badger's home demolished one day after the blaze for safety reasons.
"I can't imagine why they tore this one down when they could have possibly fenced up the property and preserved the evidence that was there," said A.J. Izzo, chairman of the Westport Building Board of Appeals and a contractor with 30 years of experience.
City officials say because of the pending lawsuit, they cannot comment on any aspect of this case.
Badger also lost both of her parents in the blaze last December. Stamford fire mother: Ashes seemed safe
