Hundreds of people gathered in Stamford Thursday night to hear the 90s alternative rock band Third Eye Blind perform.

The rock band headlined the city's Alive at Five concert series at Columbus Park.

Third Eye Blind's performance comes after the group says they refused to play some of their hit songs at a charity event at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. They also spoke out against some people who were in the crowd.

The band released a statement on Twitter saying, "We in fact repudiate every last stitch of the RNC platform and the grotesque that is their nominee." The band's statement on Twitter also went on to say that they have Republican fans, family and friends that they love.

People who attended the concert said they had mixed opinions about the band refusing to play some of their hits while in Cleveland.

"What you think about politics shouldn't affect what you play, but it's also their opinions too. I feel like they have a right to play whatever they want," said Norwalk resident Matt Savono. "It's their song."
