Tony Caputo is a multiple Emmy Award-winning reporter/anchor with News 12 New Jersey. For nearly 20 years, Caputo has covered just about every beat and situation possible at News 12 New Jersey. He came aboard as a general assignment reporter before moving on to a regular beat as a business correspondent. His reports frequently dealt with Wall Street and the stock market's impact on investors west of the Hudson River. He also covered the trends and currents of business and industry based in New Jersey.
From there, he moved into a full-time, morning anchor position where he hosted News 12 New Jersey's morning and daytime editions for three years.
Since returning to his role as a full-time reporter, Caputo's live reporting has led to six On-Camera Achievement Live Field Reporting New York Emmy nominations, winning the award twice!
For most of his journalism career, Caputo has been reporting in and about the Garden State. He was born in Philadelphia and spent his formative years west of the Delaware River, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
One of Caputo's first professional positions was in Trenton at WTTM-AM 920. He hosted a morning talk show and a sports program at night. But it wasn't long before he made the jump to television.
His first TV news assignment came at WZBN-TV 25 in Mercer County, helping to create WZBN's Mercer County Update. But Caputo soon had the opportunity to move to Pennsylvania's Poconos, for a news position at a network TV affiliate, WBRE-TV28 in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Caputo soon found his way back to the Garden State, joining its 24-hour regional news network, News 12 New Jersey, in October 1997.
