A train in Milford that has been a staple at festivals, transporting kids and adults throughout the seasons, was targeted by vandals over the weekend.
The train works every weekend out of Phillipsburg as a wine and pumpkin train.
The words "atomic punk" were spray painted Saturday on some of the cabooses.
A few years ago, the New York Susquehanna and Western Historical Society got together to restore not just the train, but the tracks.
“Fine example of just how great Jersey can be,” says Don Chaudruc, Belvidere Delaware River Railway Foreman. “Hunterdon County and Milford and Holland Township, in a matter of five weeks, we were trying to raise $5,000 and we raised $40,000.”
Officials are frantic to try and fix this before a Halloween parade on Oct. 28..
"We're trying every trick we know,” says Chaudruc. “We've tried everything from easy off to paint remover, graffiti remover. It's just not coming off."
It looks like the cabooses need an entire repaint, so the mayor is organizing a fundraiser to collect donations.
Police are also looking into this and security cameras have now been placed on the premises.
