The University of Bridgeport is taking special steps to honor veterans on daily basis.
Purple Heart recipients who go to the University of Bridgeport will soon see special parking spaces set aside just for them.
It's all part of an effort to recognize veterans on a daily basis.
The university will hold a special proclamation ceremony Saturday recognizing the sacrifices made by veterans who have received the Purple Heart — a decoration awarded in the name of the president to those wounded or killed while serving in the U.S. military.
University officials told News 12 Connecticut they are also proud to unveil a special flag pole dedicated to those who have served and sacrificed while wearing their country's uniform.
