Westport PD collect donations for homeless, hungry at Bridgeport Rescue Mission

<p>The Westport Police Department is kicking off the holiday season early with a food drive.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

The Westport Police Department is kicking off the holiday season early with a food drive.
Police collected donations and nonperishable food items outside the Stop & Shop on Post Road East.
All of the donations and money go towards Bridgeport Rescue Mission, which provides vital services to people dealing with homelessness and hunger.
The event started at 9 a.m. and police have already collected dozens of bags.
Donations will be accepted until 3 p.m. today when officer will pack their truck and drop them off at the Bridgeport Rescue Mission.
