One man is in custody after a fatal hit-and-run in Norwalk that left one person dead and two others injured.
Police have arrested Hugo Cruz-Gregorio, 33, of Norwalk. Police say he is facing a number of charges, including manslaughter, driving under the influence and driving without a license.
The victims were struck on Woodward Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. Friday. Ramon Lopez, owner of Woodward Liquor, says he was about to close for the night when he saw a truck drive on to the sidewalk, hit several people and bust out the window of his shop.
Norwalk police say Cruz-Gregorio left the scene of the crash and was found two blocks away.
Police say the three victims were taken to the hospital, one of whom was later pronounced dead. The other two victims suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Cruz-Gregorio is being held on $750,000 bond. He could appear before a judge as early as Monday.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Norwalk police.
