Bridgeport police are searching for a gunman who started shooting into a parked car, sending one person to the hospital.
Police say the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday near Boston and Palisades avenues.
Officials say three men and one woman were sitting in a parked car when a man walked up and fired up to eight rounds into the car. They say the gunfire apparently came from a 45-caliber handgun.
Democratic mayoral primary winner Joe Ganim says that an increased police presence will prevent shootings from happening in the future.
"The real clear focus is we need more funding and more manpower for our police department to make our neighborhoods safe so this can stop. We need to create jobs and job opportunities," he says.
Police say the victim was shot in the arm and is expected to be OK.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bridgeport police.
