An accident on I-95 in Milford Wednesday morning resulted in the death of a truck driver and caused heavy traffic back-ups.
Police say the accident happened between exits 34 and 35 around 5:30 a.m. and involved a tractor-trailer and a car.
According to state authorities, a rig operated by a 69-year-old Maryland truck driver came up on traffic delayed by construction at exit 34 in Milford. They say he could not stop in time and slammed into an SUV in front of him. The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV did not require hospitalization.
The northbound side of the highway was shut down for eight hours due to the crash. The highway was reopened at around 1:30 p.m. after the accident was cleared.
