The Fairfield Theatre Company is expected to be filled with people on Friday night for the first-ever Ravestock event.
The benefit is 10 years in the making and honors Meghan Raveis, a woman who raised millions of dollars for cancer research.
She was killed after being hit by a car in 2023.
"So, 10 years. Meghan started with a small walk where we would raise money for cancer research, and we wanted to bring the communities together. That moved into a ride and walk out at Calf Pasture Beach. Her final one unfortunately, was in 2022, and people rallied around and said this has to continue, so we put on a musical event down at the Seagrape in Farfield. That got too big, so we started it here," said Ryan Raveis, founder of Ravestock.
Several local musicians will play at Ravestock, and attendees can bid on a
silent auction. The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation and the Dana-Farber Institute will benefit from the proceeds.
"One in eight people are impacted by cancer in some way, and it's something that's very personal. So, every ticket sold, every silent auction item that we have, and we have some excellent ones, every penny earned goes towards cancer research," Raveis said.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available to purchase on the
Ravestock website.
For anyone who will miss the event, Raveis said you can still donate to the cause
in Meghan's memory and have an impact on cancer.
"We expect to raise several hundred thousand dollars tomorrow night," Raveis said.
Another Ravestock event will be held in Boston on Oct. 17.
