2 armed suspects steal $9K from New Canaan People's Bank; suspected getaway car found burned

Two armed suspects stole $9,000 during a robbery inside of the People's Bank in New Canaan before allegedly ditching and burning the getaway car a half a mile down the road.

Two armed suspects stole $9,000 during a robbery inside of the People's Bank in New Canaan before allegedly ditching and burning the getaway car a half a mile down the road.
The incident happened Wednesday at the People’s Bank at 95 Main St. around 3:55 p.m.
Police say the two suspects walked inside of the bank wearing masks, a hat, and hoodies before pulling out a gun and demanding cash from the tellers.
The two suspects left the scene in an early to mid-2000s red-colored, two-door Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a missing right front hubcap.
A car matching the description of the one used by the two suspects was later found abandoned and burned on Green Avenue Thursday morning.
Police say the fire department responded to Green Avenue around 5:30 a.m. and found the car on fire.
Police say the car matched the description of the one used in the robbery, and that it has a Missouri license plate and a missing front right hubcap.
No employees were injured during the robbery.
