Two people have been hospitalized after a car smashed into a pair of Norwalk homes this morning. Police say an SUV was traveling northbound on Van Buren Avenue when it veered off the road near Maple Street. After ripping the porch off a nearby house, it slammed into the home next door and knocked off its gas meter. They say the accident happened at around 10:30 a.m. A neighbor, Maria Ruiz, says she helped the driver and passenger out of the car. Crews say a gas line was torn from the side of one of the houses and that it took nearly two hours to clean up.
