Two people were injured when their car slammed into a house in Bridgeport early Sunday morning.
The incident happened on Mount Grove Street. Surveillance cameras captured the car plow through the wall of a bedroom where a man says he was sleeping with his wife.
There is no word yet on what caused the crash.
Firefighters say the car broke a pipe, which then leaked gas into the vehicle and house. First responders shut off the gas and then extricated the occupants of the car. They were taken to the hospital.
No one inside the home was injured, but the house has been deemed structurally unsafe. Firefighters built a couple of struts in the basement to hold the weight of the first floor in one corner.
The house has since been boarded up, and there were still parts of the car, including a door, scattered across the lawn Monday evening.
Neighbors say they hope the crash will be a wake-up call for speeding drivers in the area.
