Two employees at separate Norwalk smoke shops are facing charges after police say they were selling marijuana illegally from stores that are not licensed cannabis dispensaries.
Norwalk Police Special Services officers executed a search warrant at Wally’s Convenience on Westport Avenue on May 12. Investigators say they seized 4.15 pounds of cannabis products, including flower, vapes, and gummies, and arrested employee Emad Alawdi, 28, of Norwalk. He is charged with possession with intent to sell cannabis, operating a drug factory, and possession of cannabis over the legal limit. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is due in court on May 26.
Two days later, on May 14, officers searched Kings Tobacco and Vape on Main Street. Police say they seized 1.537 pounds of cannabis products and arrested employee Sari A. Saleh, 20, of Brooklyn. He is charged with possession with intent to sell cannabis and possession over the legal limit. His bond was set at $1,000, with a court date of May 27.
Police say both stores were operating without the required state cannabis dispensary licenses.
