More than 2,000 kids hit the ground running Saturday for the first-ever Youth Spartan Race in Stamford.
The race course at Mill River Park is stocked with obstacles designed to physically challenge participants.
There are 2K and 4K versions.
Organizers say the Spartan Race is meant to push kids to overcome challenges and get outside for exercise.
Some of the winners at the finish line say it's a lot of work but worth it.
Organizers say the race continues for another full day Sunday.
