The family of a Shelton teen fatally stabbed last year is suing the parents of a party he was at prior to his death.

The legal challenge against Paul and Susanna Leifer alleges that they allowed underage drinking at a party before the stabbing.

A fight resulted in the death of 17-year-old Jimmy McGrath, last May.

According to the lawsuit, alcohol increased the "level of animosity" between attendees.

It goes on to say, "Rather than intervening to stop the fighting, the defendants merely allowed the underage participants, who had been drinking alcohol with the defendants' knowledge, to leave the social gathering unsupervised and continue the fight somewhere else."

Raul "Lito" Valle, 17, was charged with McGrath's death.

The suit is asking for $15,000.

A news conference regarding the lawsuit will be held Monday.
