A team of designers at the Brooklyn Public Library is asking the public to submit every-day neighborhood problems that they will work to find solutions for.

The library says they will pick one of those submissions to give to the team of 30 students, who are part of a program called Flex-Into-UX.

Flex-Into-UX are free classes offered by the library in partnership with Kingsborough Community College. UX is a field where designers find solutions to experiences or issues someone might have.

“Maybe there is not enough light on your street so when you walk home at night, it's too dark. Or maybe there's not enough grocery stores in your neighborhood. Or maybe the trash picked isn't working out and it's causing rodents and bugs. Things like that are problems that our user designers can get to work on,” said library spokesperson Fritzi Bodenheimer.

Bodenheimer tells News 12 that the group will split into smaller teams to find potential solutions and present them in September.

She says the goal of the project is to help students build their skills and a portfolio that will help them break into the UX field.
