Recent changes to the state employee health plan will now make it easier for all couples to access fertility services.

Officials say the plan will no longer discriminate against same sex couples who want to receive those services to start a family.

Officials worked with labor, management and LGBTQ leaders to make the changes. They also say they are encouraging businesses to adjust their policies to be inclusive.

"We are taking giant steps to make sure that our plan is inclusive, but it's up to the private plans of the state to do the same thing," said State Comptroller Sean Scanlon.

There are 250,000 people covered by the plan, which is the largest health plan in the state.
