The Open Doors' Smilow Life Center in Norwalk is distributing Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner baskets to over 250 local families.

Volunteers from the First Congregational Church of Darien were at the shelter Tuesday morning to help hand out turkeys and all the trimmings for those who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it.

Workers say the need for help is increasing, not just during the holidays.
