Bridgeport police said an armed man broke into a house on Berkshire Avenue and tried to rob the residence on Sunday morning.
They said the suspect specifically targeted the homeowner who was able to fight off the would-be robber who had a gun.
The suspect fled in an SUV which police later found on Dover Street.
Bridgeport police urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about it to contact them immediately.
