The protective accessory was a generous donation from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.
The nonprofit organization has provided over 5,000 vests to K-9s across the country since 2009.

The program is open to U.S. dogs that are at least 20 months old and are actively employed and certified with law enforcement.
