Special visitors on an 800-mile journey stopped at the St. Ann Club Tuesday in Stamford ahead of National Wreaths Across America Day.

A caravan of tractor-trailers transporting thousands of wreaths is making its annual pilgrimage from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

"I believe we have twelve trucks," says Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America. "Our mission is to remember the fallen, honor those that served, but most importantly, teach the next generation the value and cost of freedom."

This Saturday, volunteers across the country will lay wreaths at the graves of every veteran in more than 4,000 cemeteries.

"I like to think 50 years from now when I have passed on," said Patti Ellion, national president of American Gold Star Mothers. "That someone is still going to be saying my sons name when I no longer can."
