A New Haven woman is facing multiple charges for injuring a 3-year-old child at Mead School in Ansonia, police say.

Police say on March 25, a 3-year-old student had their arm injured by Mary Durso-Smith while attending school.

As a result of their injuries, the child needed to have surgery.

During their investigation, police viewed video of the incident which led them to conclude that the incident was intentional. Police say the video will not be released while the incident is pending in court.

Durso-Smith was arrested Wednesday and charged with risk of injury and assault.

She was released on a $50,000 bond and arraigned in court Thursday.
