Eversource: Truck hits utility pole, causing power outages and road closures in Stamford

Eversource told News 12 the affected roads are expected to remain closed for approximately four to eight hours.

A truck struck a utility pole near the intersection of Shippan Avenue and Elm Street on Tuesday afternoon, causing power outages and prompting multiple road closures.

According to Stamford police, the following roads were closed:

  • Cove Road from Lockwood Avenue to Shippan Avenue

  • Shippan Avenue to Wardell Avenue

  • Elm Street at Jefferson Street (by Donuts Delight) to Shippan Avenue

Eversource told News 12 the affected roads are expected to remain closed for approximately four to eight hours.

Businesses and residents in the area lost power temporarily as crews responded to the damaged pole.

ShopRite, Goodwill and several nearby plazas reportedly still have electricity.
