Residents say the attack on homeowners by two men dressed as delivery workers is alarming in this normally quiet neighborhood.
On Monday, two men impersonating delivery drivers forced their way at gunpoint into a Dunn Avenue home attacking a husband and wife, police said.
Dunn Avenue is behind High Ridge Road and near Merritt Parkway.
"The people and the neighbors are so great. That's why it's so shocking," said Joe Longo who lives on Dunn Avenue.
Longo says he's lived in the quiet Stamford neighborhood since 1964 and has never seen anything like this.
"The guy just took off. One went down the road. The other two took off in the car," he said.
Late Monday morning police were called to Dunn Avenue and spoke to a husband and wife who said two men dressed as Amazon delivery drivers forced their way into their home with guns.
The husband was struck multiple times in the face but managed to activate the home's alarm system.
Police say the second suspect went after the woman, but she was able to call 911 before the suspect grabbed her and held a pillow over her head.
"They were able to relay dispatch vital information that were able to put our resources and our response in the right location," Stamford Police Lt. Doug Deiso said.
The suspects were identified as Hayes Edmonds, 24, and Sam Oduor, 25, from Georgia. They fled when they heard the alarm.
Police later arrested them and confiscated their guns.
Both face charges, including home invasion, assault, and possession of a high capacity magazine.
"This was a very, very violent crime. These two victims were home. One of them was at home working. They get a knock at the door, they look outside their door they see an individual dressed as an Amazon employee," Deiso said.
Police say one of the suspects later came to a local business around the corner asking for water and yelling at someone on the phone.
The witness saw the suspect enter a white vehicle and called police with the registration plate.
"That vehicle ran into a construction site that was being done and they couldn't go any further on Bradley Place," Deiso said.
Police say the suspects were arraigned Tuesday and are due back in court in early March.
They are being held on a $2 million bond.
Police say both the man and woman were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
