A man sent to prison for 50 years for a fatal shooting in Stamford in 2019 is headed back to court.

The Connecticut Supreme Court will give Rashad Sellers a new trial in the killing of Stephon Walthrust.

Walthrust was found shot in a car in Stamford's South End.

Sellers was sentenced three years ago.

The Supreme Court says the trial judge "improperly allowed certain evidence without holding a hearing on the defense's objection."

It was not immediately clear when the new trial will begin.
