Stratford elementary school students chose a notable figure to dress up as and become for the day in honor of Black History Month.

It's all part of their living wax museum project at Franklin Elementary School.

Since the end of January, students have been researching, preparing and getting into character.

Sixth grader Janaiyah dressed up as Aretha Franklin.

The students also created a slide show, a poster, a speech and wrote an essay for their projects.

"The kids really do get invested," says sixth-grade teacher Mindy Therriault.
