A Bronx mother, who authorities say was stabbed 22 times, now knows when the trial for the man accused of the attack will begin.

Kaitlynn Berman attended the hearing for Christopher Joseph, who is accused in the March 2025 attack.

Joseph has been charged with 13 criminal counts, including attempted murder, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He is currently out without bail, due to the DA's office's failure to meet a key deadline to set bail.

"It's not fair, he shouldn't be free. He's not a person that should be roaming around," said Berman.

She says the pains she feels from being near the man accused of stabbing her still run deep.

"I looked at him. I cried. It's emotional having to look at somebody who did that to you," said Berman.

On Wednesday, a judge granted an extension for the order of protection for her from Joseph. However, she and Pastor Cheryl Singletary, an advocate for Berman, said the order of protection is just a piece of paper, and not the peace she deserves while awaiting the trial.

"I worry wherever I go. I still have pain, you know? I have scars all over, you know? It's not the same at all. People need to know what he looks like. People are probably next to him every day, walking around him and talking to him and they have no idea who he is," said Berman.

"Somebody has to do something before this man turns around and wind up sending somebody to hurt her, and they're allowing him to be on the street. What kind of justice is this?" said Singletary

The trial is scheduled to start on June 17.
