The Lyndhurst Police Department has lifted a shelter-in-place that went into effect just before 6:30 a.m.
Police had previously instructed residents of two local streets to shelter in place in their basements as a result of police activity.
Police are advising residents to continue avoiding the area of Summit and Lake avenues as the investigation continues.
According to a post on Facebook, police said Columbus School was also on a delayed opening.
Multiple local and county first responders were on the scene and had Summit and Lake avenues closed to traffic.
Police have not said what has prompted the shelter-in-place.
This is a developing story. More information will be posted once it becomes available.
