Another anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protest brought demonstrators to downtown Yonkers on Saturday, with a focus on opposing proposed detention centers.

Organizers said the rally aimed to show growing momentum against large-scale deportation facilities, including those proposed in Chester and Brooklyn.

Protesters gathered in the downtown area and held signs while calling for an end to immigration enforcement activity in local communities. The demonstration comes as immigration policy continues to be a flashpoint across the Hudson Valley and nationwide.

Organizers said their goal is to make immigrant families feel safe and to push back against what they describe as fear and intimidation in their neighborhoods. The rally emphasized immigrant rights, community protection and accountability.

Kisha D. Skipper, of NAACP Yonkers, said multiple community groups came together in solidarity with the sanctuary movement and those impacted by detention centers.

“No more. We will not stand for it. We need to fight ignorance, not immigrants,” Skipper said.
No major disruptions were immediately reported.
