South Nyack residents were without water for the second time over the weekend, after a valve, which was shut off for repairs to Saturday's pipe break at South Broadway and Clinton Avenue, broke or malfunctioned.

When asked what happens when she turns on her faucet, longtime resident Denise Chapman replied, "nothing, there's no water, there is no water."

Homeowner Will Packer was dealing with the same problem.

"I don't have any right now. It came on for a little while and it stopped again, but apparently a second valve has gone out, they said hopefully for four hours but we'll see," he said.

By Sunday afternoon, the ruptured pipe at Clinton Avenue and South Broadway was repaired and water service had been restored to hundreds of customers.

But for about two dozen residents in that area, the inconvenience isn't over yet.

"They gave us a boil water order. I mean for us, our newborn, we can't give him a bath in the water. They said once they test it, it’s 48 to 72 hours before you get the results back," said Tommy Savas.

The work also continues to raise water levels at the village's main reservoir. Those levels significantly dropped after Saturday's twelve-inch pipe break.

Nyack Water Department Superintendent Thomas Lynch adds that depending on water testing results, the boil water order could be lifted by early next week.
