Norwalk firefighters responded to a reported structure fire along 187 Ely Avenue at 4:22 p.m. Saturday evening.

A fourteen-year-old resident escaped by jumping from a second floor window and was transported to area hospital for evaluation and treatment, officials said, with their mother being assisted out of the building by a neighbors ladder ahead of fire officials arrival.
Firefighters rescued a trapped dog within the first floor of the residency with a second dog escaping the fire with occupants prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
Thirteen residents were displaced with the American Red Cross aiding the residents.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal's Office.
